Judgement Day

This song paints a picture that I believe we would do well to look hard on. I know that we will not be judged at the Great White Throne Judgement where the unsaved will be judged by Christ. Instead we will be judged at the Judgement Seat of Christ. But still the song makes a vital point. Here are the lyrics to Judgement Day and my comments afterward.

I stood in line on Judgement Day
To kneel before the Lord
In hopes that He would gladly say
Well done, Behold the door.
But as I stood there all alone,
Surrounded on all sides
My hands did ache as friends were thrown
To flames that never die

My soul did faint when I recalled
No witness I bestought.
To them whose screams did fill the hall
I saw the need for naught
And then on hands and knees I knew
The wroth that flowed with gall
My hands did bleed with crimson due
As friends my name did call.

And they said,
Why did you not tell me
About this final plan
Why did you not tell me
About the Son of Man
The millions cried as all hope died,
We thought you were our friend

Now friend if while this song was sung,
Some face did cross your mind
Of people who are yet undone
And Christ they need to find
Go tell them now, before too late
The Spirit, He will lead
For if they die, it seals your fate
For then your hands will bleed.

I would like to share two passages with you that I believe are demonstrated in the lyrics to this song.

Ezekiel 3:18
"When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."

Revelation 20:12-15
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Revelation 21:4
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

We are all familiar with this last verse especially. Have you ever considered though that it doesn't just say that there will be no more tears, it says that "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." This would indicate that there are tears present at the time to be wiped away.

This brings up a question. What could be so horrible that it would cause people to cry in Heaven?

I would ask you to remember that chapters were not in the original manuscript. The Bible is the inspired word of God, without error. The breakdown of chapters and verses were put in there by us to make it easier to find certain portions. In other words Revelation chapter 21 is just a continuation of Revelation chapter 20.

So we see here that the lost are being judged and cast into the lake of fire. Then immediately after we see that God is wiping away the tears from our eyes. Something to consider.

I Thessalonians 4:16-17
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

I would like you to consider the last words of this passage "and so shall we ever be with the Lord." The song above is wrong in that we will not be judged with the unsaved. We will be judged at the Judgement Seat of Christ. The unsaved will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgement. But have you ever considered where we will be during the Great White Throne Judgement? Jesus will be the judge "and so shall we ever be with the Lord." We won't be being judged, but we will be present to watch it.

As all the friends and family that we had on earth come before Jesus we will be there to watch them. We will love them like we never did here on earth because as the Bible says "we shall be like him." We will love people like Jesus loves them. I believe we will see the accusation in the eyes of people we knew, but did not witness to as they realize that all they needed to escape this fate, was to have their name in the Book of Life. Obviously we knew this, since we are not being judged. And we will watch as they are taken and cast into the Lake of Fire, where, we are very conscious of the fact, that they will burn alive for the same amount of time that we will be enjoying Heaven. The words of the song "Ten thousand years, it will just be started. Ten thousand years and it's just begun" won't be any less a truth for them than it will be for us.

I believe that day will be the worst day not only of our lives but of eternity. That is why in spite of the fact that we will be in Heaven there will be tears for God to wipe away.
